Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity In Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered problems to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles attacked energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes overnight. A young boy was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults follow periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
