Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
