Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
